In addition to sworn police officers, the department employs non-sworn community service officers to assist in many areas, such as crime prevention, community outreach, dispatch, surveillance and building security.Īll Tribal community service officers and sworn police officers are hired and trained to the standards of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and/or US Govt. The department enforces both Tribal ordinances and applicable federal laws on the reservation and works closely with other law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe environment on the Shingle Springs Rancheria. The Police Department enjoys a positive relationship with its Tribal Community and takes every opportunity to interact and engage residents and visitors. The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Police Department is committed to providing the highest level of law enforcement services to its members and visitors, while constantly improving the quality of life that the Tribal Community desires and deserves. Our purpose is to provide a safe environment for Tribal Members and visitors, while also protecting the lands, culture, heritage and sovereignty of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. The mission of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Tribal Police Department is to protect individual rights, to build trust, safety, peace and cooperation within the community.
